About Mister Johns Music
In 2015, John Francisco founded his very own music program called Mister Johns Music. He began his endeavor in Philadelphia and has since, expanded to Atlanta! Maybe you have never thought about it, but babies actually do fall asleep to soothing music! Music can create a soothing environment that helps calm and comfort babies, which makes it easier for them to fall asleep and feel relaxed! The rhythmic and melodic patterns of music can stimulate brain activity, promoting cognitive development and enhancing neural connections. Growing up, I loved music. I have been a pianist since I was five years old! However, there were instances where I wanted to be more creative with my music and incorporate other sounds! Teaching music to babies and children at home can be a delightful and enriching experience for your family! Imagine your living room transforming into a mini concert hall, where your baby becomes the star performer! However, you may not have all the instruments you need… or do you?! Making music is simpler than you might think. Here are ways to make music with the items you have around your home!
tips to continue the musical fun at home!
- Maracas – Put some dry rice and pasta noodles in empty water bottles and shake shake shake!
- Cymbals- Use pots and pans and clang them together!
- Drums – use empty box, bins, or crates and take some sticks from outside and make drumbeats!
- Piano – Fill eight glasses of water with varying levels of water in each – gently tap the glasses with a metal spoon or a stick to product different pitches! The sounds that come from this little experiment resembles that of a xylophone which mimics a piano!
- Guitar – Stretch some rubber bands of different thicknesses, over an open box or carboard and begin to pluck the rubber bands to hear the different sounds and pitches!
- and finally, add in some background music too! Make those beats with your new homemade instruments and real instruments but also incorporate background music from YouTube and there you have it! Your very own band and a whole lot of fun for you and your babies!
Sing along to your baby’s favorite tunes! Incorporate playful movements like dancing and swaying to the rhythm, encouraging your baby to explore the wonderful world of sounds.
