Join School Clubs
More likely than not, your child’s school has many different afterschool program clubs or elective classes, that will give them something to do while you are at work! I have been on staff at elementary schools for a club and kids love it! Schools host social clubs, art clubs, music clubs, theatre, running, etc. While you can send your children to the regular after-school program, joining a club allows your child to thrive in areas that are most interesting to them! They will experience what they love and come home, not only exhausted, but excited to go to school the next day! When I was in the 6th grade, I was in band. It was truly the highlight of my time in 6th grade! So, consider finding out what after-school activities your child’s school offers!
Girls inc
If you have young girls, you will love Girls Inc! This program offers both after-school and summer programs for kids aged 5 – 18 years old! At Girls Inc. your daughter will learn to value themselves, discover their inherent abilities, develop deep rooted friendships, and receive support as a they navigate the challenges of life and school! The staff are not just staff. They are mentors who come alongside each girl and helps them to grow into the beautiful young ladies that they are! Girls Inc is a place where girls are empowered by each other in a warm and welcoming community! They offer tutoring/homework help, sports classes such as dance, art classes, field trips, and much more! As a bonus, their Marietta location offers transportation from many different schools in the Cobb County area!
Boys and Girls Club
The Boys and Girls Club is an incredible program for kids! Their goal is to empower children to be to be successful in their education, social life, and personal life! They have amazing mentors and offer niche specific classes! There is surely something that every child will enjoy! Their mission is to help kids to turn their dreams into reality, by helping them to reach their highest potential! From arts to sports, the Boy and Girls Club facilitates multiple activities that keep children active, engaged and motivated to live healthy lifestyles! When I was young, the Boys and Girls Club and Girls Inc. were walking distance from each other! just a backyard away! I got the incredible opportunity to be a part of both and definitely feel I got the best of both worlds! So, if you have boys, send them to the Boys and Girls Club! And if you have girls, consider sending them to both at alternate times! Both have great things to offer your children! YMCA After-school Program
There are many YMCA gyms in Atlanta and they offer after-school and summer programs for your kids! They offer many incredible programs where your kids will learn different skills, make friends, and have a wonderful time. There after-school program is called Y Explore! your kids will explore nature, the arts, theatre, STEAM, and more! They keep kids active at the gym facility, through activities like rock-climbing, soccer, and basketball! Your kid’s will have a blast after school and not only that, but they can continue with the same friendships during their summer camp programs too! They will build community both during the school year and in the off season/school breaks! I highly recommend you check out the YMCA After-school Program! Fusion Athletic Center
Does your child have a dream to become a gymnast or a ninja? Well. Fusion Athletic Center offers a super fun, active program for kids! Here, your kids will build strength, flexibility, and coordination, which will help them in their later sports and activities! They will make some friends who also enjoy tumbling around and climbing the equipment! What better way to climb and flip, than with friends! Their staff love to train your kiddos to reach their fullest potential, and their after-school programs keep them so busy, they will be exhausted by the end of the day! As a bonus, they are a great location to host your child’s birthday party! The whole crew will have fun flipping, climbing, and jumping around! Enroll in an Art Class - Zone of Light Studio
If you have kids who love art, consider enrolling them in an art class after-school! There are many great ones out there! Boy Scouts
Boy Scouts turns young boys into leaders and role models! Enrolling your boys into Boy Scouts gives them an incredible opportunity to stay busy after-school, grow friendships, learn more about themselves, develop their character, engage in community projects and much more! Boy’s love to have a little bit of friendly competition! So, in Boy Scouts, boys have a ton of fun competing with themselves! To be better and do better every week! They will earn badges to mark their achievements, which makes Boy Scouts so much fun for them! From camping in the woods to volunteering to help others, your boys will have an enriching and life-giving experience that they will truly remember for the rest of their lives! Join a local rec center
More than likely, there’s a community recreation center near you! Well, did you know that many of them offer after-school care? Enrolling your child in a recreational center is a wonderful way to keep them active and busy! If they aren’t already doing any sports, rec centers off it all for you! You child will get to play numerous sports and create healthy lifestyles that they will enjoy sticking to long term! Rec centers make exercise fun and motivate your child to work hard to achieve their goals academically, socially, and athletically! Many rec centers have staff who come alongside your child to mentor them to greatness! From homework help to sports skills development, choosing a rec center to be one of your child’s after-school programs or activities gives them a positive outlet for growth in many different areas!
Host a club
And finally, host a club! If you are a parent who stays home with the kids after school, something fun you can do if host a club with some other mom & dads, with the kids! For instance, say your child enjoys an activity that isn’t hosted anywhere near you. Get together with some other parents and their kids and just have fun! You can start a club for video gaming, board gaming, cooking, Lego building, or whatever your child enjoys! You can host in your home, or meet up at playgrounds in the area, or even alternate between places! I believe this to be a super fun way for kids to connect afterschool because the kids can make the rules! You will have the flexibility to facilitate the activities in ways that work best for you! Furthermore, you will have an opportunity to connect with other parents and make friends too! Make it a regular thing! This is an incredible way to have fun during the week! After the busy school and workdays, hanging out with people can be an enriching and uplifting experience for the whole crew!
